Last January 17, 2011, I bought a second hand Nikon D5000 + Sigma 70-300mm. It was quiet hard at first, considering that the lens has no Optical Stabilization (or VR for Nikkor lenses). My early shots of moving objects are blurry. But, last January 22-23, I tried my luck on the annual Dinagyang Festival, and think I have some good shots.
